Township and range is an old system used to designate land. A township is composed of 36 "sections" of land. A sections is one mile on edge or 640 acres. The sections are numbered in a serpentine fashion beginning in the NE corner of the township. Many USGS topos have the township and range grids printed on them. With the township, range and section identification, you can locate the particular section on an appropriate map. To use the location you were given, start quartering the section and go to the specified quadrant. Then quarter this quadrant and repeat to what ever level of detail was given to you. A Google search will turn up lots of info. HTH, Art
