I'm certainly no authority, but it has always been my understanding that the Barkers only *leased* Indian Ranch from the Hansen family.
Friends of mine were good friends of Dugan Hansen and camped at Indian Ranch every spring for years. I last stayed there in 1997 or 1998. At that time Dugan Hansen was still living there.
The following year Dugan was seriously ill and his son was living there with him. We were asked to leave in the middle of our April visit -- at which time we relocated to Panamint Springs.
I'm not sure how many "greats" are involved, but I understand that Dugan is a descendant of the famous George Hansen.
