I agree with Randall, that I too have several favorite spots. A few are:
On top of Hobbs Hill enjoying the view of Hidden Valley, the Racetrack, Saline Valley, and several mountains ranges including the tips of the Sierra Nevada.
SV in August. Yes, it’s hot, and it’s dry, except of the occasional flash flood. But it’s great. The spring water is colder than the air temp, which makes for a great way to stay “cool”. I think I just talked myself into another trip for this summer.
