That's not even a fair question. That's like asking a mother of 10 kids, which is her favorite. Usually, wherever I am at the moment is my favorite. Kind of like zen exploring I guess. With that said, a couple at the top of my list would be: The end of the little dead end road that goes up into the Last Chance Range just above Steele Pass. It's not the best campsite because the wind can really whip up the exposed face of the range but the view is incredible. Talk about hours of gazing out into the expanse. The little knob of a hill just about a hundred yards or so south of the Burgess mine cabin. From there, you can kick back and look down into both Saline and Owens Valleys. It, on the other hand is a great campsite and you even have the cabin to get out of the wind if needed. And, during a full moon, one of the best. Although the view is outstanding at any given moment, on March 24, I had the privledge of watching spectacular snow flurries over Butte Valley from the overlook near South Park. It looked like veils of shimmering silk veils hanging from the dark grey clouds. Stunning!! I watched for hours.
