Just curious, but besides geocaching, what does one use GPS for? I've been exploring backcountry areas for quite some time, and never once said to myself, "damn, I sure wish I had a GPS unit". It seems like unless you're doing research or something, that maps and a compass are sufficient. I've never been lost to where I couldn't figure out where I was, and I've never been unable to read a map because its batteries were dead. Am I missing something? I have nothing against hi tech gadgets, I'm truly curious.
