If you've got a bicycle and want to see Death Valley, but don't want to pedal all the way there, you could (depending on where you are) take Amtrak to the general vicinity. If you're out of state, take the Soutwest Chief (or a train that connects to the SW Chief) to Barstow. If you're in the San Joaquin or Central Valleys of California, take the San Joaquin to Bakersfield, then transfer your bike and your self to the "Las Vegas" bus. Get off the bus at the Baker Jack in the Box, and then bike into DV. Bikes are OK on Amtrak!
