DVFan: Go for it. All the routes were traveled many times prior to the invention of the Jeep and the generations of later 4X4 vehicles. Model T&A Fords made it, and don't forget wagon and mules/horses. I did all the routes back in the 50's in a stock 54 Ford pickup...carried a extra spare tire/shovel/highlift jack. Worned stock tires...couldn't afford anything else.
