Can a novice do the loop?

I'm going to visit my parents next week in San Bernardino. My dad is loaning me his Jeep Grand Cherokee so my girlfriend and I can go to Death Valley. A friend told me that the loop is a very nice excursion. Since I haven't had much experience fourwheeling, will I have a problem? (My dad's Jeep is a '01 model with QuadraDrive and a V8 engine.)
