I have a Jeep Wrangler and it does fantastic out there. I did it once in my GMC (extended cab) pickup but it's way too big for any serious exploring. As a matter of fact, there are trails in DV that I doubt anything bigger than a Wrangler or Land Rover could get through.
I have a 9000 lb Warn winch which has helped in many spots. My next purchase is going to be lockers as there are two places that I had to turn back due to the lack of same. I do have a high lift jack too.
Communications equipment is something you should consider. The popular choice is a 2 meter ham radio as cell phones are useless as are CB radios. I have a CB, but only to communicate with my friends on the trails with me.
The new Rubicon will do great in DV. The only thing I could imagine it might need is a little more ground clearance.
