The Ft. Irwin junk heap is located approximately at W116 40'04" - N35 37'04". I was last there on 12-1-00. It just so happens that on that same date there were three A-10 Warthogs doing runs on Leach Lake and I watched them take a first pass and fire their rockets and then a second pass using the chain guns. What a sight! Even from
a few miles away the roar of the gatlin guns was awsome.
As far as us ever regaining use of those range lands, I agree it will never happen in my lifetime. My point again is that the enviornmental issues are baloney and just the government's excuse to limit vehicle access to remote public lands. I doubt whether the debris and/or ordinance leftovers on the ranges even pose an enviornmental hazard. I'm just pissed because Uncle Sam can do whatever he wants while putting us under the thumb. Screw 'em all! I'll go anywhere I damn please....and have many times.
