Thanks for all the information. I thought maybe my original route might not be the best. I am actually travelling with a friend, but we take you up on your advice and try out the route you suggested.
I have reserved a rental in Bishop already; but maybe someone has thoughts on a good place for renting and the best vehicle to rent in either Bishop or Big Pine.
