Hi Bob

As Cecile says I've been to DV a few times. 90% of the time, 100% of the roads are doable in a stock 4X4 if you know how to drive. Yes it always best not to be solo, but most of the roads see a few vehicles per day anyway, and we can't always wait for others. Check with the FC vistor center and follow their recommendations, and you will be fine. That is based on the fact you know when to turn around, if you can't do something. Steel Pass is lonely, South Park & Pleasent Canyons can be hard. All the other roads are good for a jeep. Carry supplies to hold you over for a few days and let the rangers know where you are going and you will be fine. The fact that you ask this before hand, makes me think you have enought sense to be find.

An easy, seldom used road goes up to the Tucki Mine, check it out. Big storms can change everything, but the park service will steer you right about roads as far as safty goes.

Have fun.
