Fixing up the car for the desert

Well, after checking out the prices on new 4x4's I can safely say that I am keeping the Geo Tracker! Heck, for the price of a new car I can rebuild this one from the ground up - twice!

So, now that I am keeping it I want to make it better. Add a roof rack for additional spare tires because I have had two flats in one day. Do that differential thing that you'all were talking about a while back. Add an air conditioner because I am getting tired of being heat sick some days.

But, how do I safely carry extra gas? This tank only holds ten gallons and that just does not go very far if I am out exploring. Suggestions?
