Hankjr,

I am not disputing that the locker provides better traction than the limited slip. I said so in my post. The original question was along the lines of improving traction in an otherwise stock vehicle that already goes everywhere it is asked to.

The original question was also regarding the Death Valley SUV trails, not Moab, the Rubicon, or any other hard core area.

Driving technique, type of terrain, and the type of vehicle are all factors when selecting a traction aiding device. My Dodge Dakota has a limited slip, which greatly improved my ability to pull the boat out of the water. My friend's F350 dually does this with an open differential, with the additional weight over the driven wheels playing a factor. A Manx buggy gets through things some 4x4 trucks can't, and without any traction aiding device at all.

Rather than fighting with each other on what to buy, let's try to remain focused on what the original poster was asking. Based on what Lara expects out of her vehicle and where she wants to go with it, I would recommend the air conditioning. :-)
