I bought mine from the bookstore in Mammoth Lakes also and it is a great book. So many trails so little time. I stayed up until the wee hours of the morning reading and wondering if the Mitchell's took their Toyota 4Runner on those Class IV treks with no trouble. If so, then that is my next vehicle!
