I offer my apologies for this late announcement; computer trouble has kept me from the Internet. The Ballarat Owners Group (BOG)is pleased to announce Ballarat's Festival of the Fly. Because of the enormous crowds the Festival has attracted in the past this year's Festival will be held only during the month of August 2001. A nature trail has been constructed through prime fly habitat, the Panamint Horse Fly reaches its peak of activity in the warmer summer months, so there should be plenty of Horse Fly Action during the guided tours of the Panamint Horse Fly Sanctuary. Static displays have been constructed to supplement the guided tours. The Panamint Horse Fly is of the insect order Diptera and belongs to the family Tabanidae. Visitors on guided tours of the Sanctuary will learn about the life history of the fly and be afforded an opportunity to interact with the insect. Submitted by Birdman
