When you go to Yosemite you've got to see the waterfalls. When you go to Yellowstone you need to visit 'Old Faithful'. When at Grand Canyon you need to take in the views. So I think when in Death Valley you need to experience the heat. It's what put it on the map. (Then get in your air conditioned car and head up to the mountains!)
