I've always dreamed of walking the length of Death Valley, myself. I've thought of parking at Scotty's Castle or Mesquite Springs Campground and walking down the west side of the Valley through Stovepipe and then down, (and down again), past Furnace Creek, Hanupah, etc. into someplace like Shoshone, then catching a ride back to the Valley. Again, just a dream, never done it, but it sounds like fun.
Scotty's Castle/Mesquite Springs are within easy shootin' distance of Vegas in the 4 - 5 hours you want to drive. Anyone ever done it?
