Redlands Canyon

Was wondering if anyone has explored Redlands Canyon. I took the road from Butte Valley to Wood Canyon a few years back but didnt check out Redlands. Worth seeing?

Realize the mine has ate up part of the canyon at the mouth but how about the rest? Was this the "escape route" for Manley and the 49'ers?
