In the event of a back country emergency, the chances are better that you'll be able to get help
using a 2 meter amateur radio, than you would using a CB. I cut the odds and use both when I'm in the B/C. Satellite communication is great, but also expensive given the initial investment and monthly fee's. Amateur radio has no fee's...
