There is a small sign on the east side of of Rt-14 a couple of miles
north of the turnoff to Red Rock State Park that points to Burro Scmidt's
Tunnel. The route heads straight south-east and then drops into the
upper end of Last Chance Canyon. Follow the signs to the tunnel. Be
sure and say hi to Toni. Give yourself enough time to walk the tunnel
to the far end (and back). There are several other roads, so pay close
attention to signs. A good map of the area helps.

It's been a couple of years since we were on the Big Pine road north
of Scotty's. But the park service blades this route fairly regularly.
Just be prepared for many miles of washboard dirt/gravel road.
