Sounds like Panamint Springs Resort might fit the bill:
The beds are OK, and the lights are on most of the time. Heat is provided by little portable space heaters.
Rustic is definately their style, with no TV, phones or radio. You'll be well treated by a fun staff, who you'll get to know well. The food is the best for many miles around.
