I was in dv from fri to sun (11/23-11/25) in a caravan with 2 other cars. We ran the full loop from grapvine junction, through grapevine canyon, over lippincott mine road, to teakettle junction, through lost burro gap, south through hidden valley, and finally up over hunter mountain. We were in all stock suv's (my 4-runner, a land cruiser, and a blazer) and successfully navigated the enitre trip, but not without obstacles. We happened to be on hunter mountain the afternoon of 11/24 when they got all the rain, sleet, and snow. The pass was extremely muddy and slick, with occasional pool crossings, and dense fog. Talk about adverse conditions, especially when taking my new 4-runner on its first true off-road trip. All I have to say is that it was a blast and toyota trucks kick butt. Sure the park didn't recommend going over hunter mountain but we were successful and had lots of fun doing it.
