This Thanksgiving weekend was a good case in point for the unpredictability of access to Saline. I went through North Pass a couple of times, and there was several inches of snow.

From the tracks, it was evident that SEVERAL vehicles had tried to ascend out of Saline on the North pass through the snow (the snow level was 6000', pass is about 7500'), and had a lot of trouble, eventually turning around and heading back into the valley. Since most people in vehicles that would have had trouble doing that climb in 3" of snow would probably not had extra fuel on board, I have to wonder what became of them - once committed to departing by the North, they might well not have enough fuel to fully traverse the valley and exit by the South.
