The real pressure for continued land closures is probably
coming from military interests that would like to expand
their bases and fly zones. It is convenient to hide
behind the endangered species act, when the proposed
closures would further extend corriders for fly zones and
restict vehicle access to benefit the military.

More pressure is needed at the congressional level.
The US government will take as much as California while they
can. One just needs to look at the closures in the Old Woman
and Turtle mountains in the late 80's and 90's. They wanted to
lock up Ward Valley for a nuke dump.

Who knows who and what motives are behind the trend of land
closures in the past 10-15 years, but for whatever the reason,
a common thread is the limiting of access to our public lands.
True activists should and will act individually, and when they
can, put pressure on who they can. RESIST MUCH OBEY LITTLE. E.A.
