Echo Canyon is one of my favorite spots to camp when hanging near "Downtown DV". I have sought shelter from wind storms in the upper canyon. Based on my last visit (before summer storms), you should be golden. Remember ya got to be 2 miles from pavement. Also, I know it probably does not need to be said, but leave only footprints and tire tracks in the road at Echo Canyon. I worry that the NPS will change Echo Canyon to Day Use Only. This will eliminate Back Country Camping in a location near Furnace Creek.
