It used to be that Death Valley's all time high was 134.6º. It held the distinction of being the world's all time high temperature until some years later, when a site in Libya eclipsed it with a high of 136.4º. I always wondered if maybe Libya transposed the last two numbers, maybe Kadafi having something to do with it ...:-)
