Hi, I am sure everyone is right that there are places you can get out in Saline, BUT my advice, having had family issues at times, is don't trust "sweet spots" etc. to be there the next month or even next hour. Reception is too dependent on time of day, weather (lightning, static from dust storms etc.) and the whim of the company that owns the tower. I live in a rural area, and unless you are willing to have the phone cut out mid-conversation, and have to hike around to find your bars again, just go ahead and rent the Sat phone. Good luck and hope things work out so you can go "phone free" in the future.
