This is one of my favorite bike trips in DV! For the most part the road is gravel / sand. You will definitely want mountain bike tires (and good brakes are a must)
We pack our bikes in trucks and drive to Leadfield, have a picnic lunch and then ride the canyon.
Pack a first aid kit in your chase vehicle along with some warm jackets /gloves. It can get pretty cold in there this time of year.
