As others have stated you've got way too much driving in your day. If you are serious about trying to get into LA in the evening then I recommend at a minimum you drive to Furnace Creek the night before instead of staying in LV - that will take off two hours of driving. Then you need to leave Furnace Creek by 7am, earlier even better. It will still be a hellacious day, but I suppose I could imagine you doing it without killing yourself and another driver in a head on collision when you fall asleep at the wheel on the 395. As far as Lippencott goes I was just down it Monday. I've done it many times before, and I did it in fading twilight this time. I really wouldn't want to do it in the dark. It is rocky and bumpy with a few deep ruts and holes, but certainly doable. There are one or two spots you might need to three point turn if you have poor turning radius, these spots usually have enough room to do so but you might want a passenger to get out and spot for you. There are no horrible washouts, just one or two places where a wheel is dipping into a rut on the edge of a fatal fall. Budget at least 50 minutes for 7-mile Lippencott "shortcut", most of that spent in the upper 3 miles. Be advised most of the 27 miles of Racetrack road is a horribly wash boarded teeth chattering nightmare right now. I suppose it could be done in 90 minutes if you don't mind leaving parts of the car behind and getting dentures after your trip. As others said definitely check you have LT tires, you'd be surprised how many "off-road" vehicles are actually fitted with passenger tires. Have fun, and please don't die or kill anyone else in the process :).
