This will be a daytrip. I want to be driving on the 190 by sundown. I ll be leaving Las Vegas at 9AM, driving to Scotty s Castle via Scotty s Junction, stopping at the crater then driving through teakettle to the playa. Since I m traveling back to LA, I wanted to take the lippincott shortcut through the Saline Valley.

My discovery has a low-gear transfer case and AWD. I have moderate experience with taking my vehicle off road but I have a lot of experience with off road dirt bikes. I do not have off-road tires and plan to purchase and test a portable air compressor prior to the trip.

If I don t take lippincott grade, what are my other alternatives for driving back to los angeles?

What sorts of activities are at Panamint Valley Days? Where does this event take place? I won t be alone and I plan on bringing ample supplies with us.
