I don't think topics for this forum have ever been defined before since I've been reading it(three years now).
Most people have been keeping it to DV related topics on their own.
If the moderators start to censor topics here, then this forum will decay.

Now we saw how a simple question about firearms in DV turned into a "Spitting Contest" and quickly decended into a "Pissing Contest".

A "Spitting Contest" is where two combatants trade spit wads at a short distance, trying to hit the other guy square in the face.
Then they increase the distance and continue spitting to see who wins.
At some point the spectators become the victims of the spit wads as the combatants aim gets worse and worse.
When the combatants tire of this then they start
over,pissing on each other instead.
At some point reasonable people step in and put a stop to the debacle.

If we had been sitting around a campfire while this was going on,we would step in an stop it before it turned into absolute violence.

There have been a lot of careless comments and a lot of flaming going on and I think the moderators are right to step in and stop it.

Their role should be moderating, not editing and censoring.

Freedom comes with a lot of responsibility and some folks will always attempt to curtail our freedom in the interest of the public good.
Censorship is one of those tools that is often misused.
There are better ways to guide the forum in a possitve direction.
