EZ-UP shade structures in high desert winds? posted by corn liquor
Mine is 15 years old and have never had trouble with the wind. I have used it HUNDREDS of times in the desert, even using duct tape to to cover tears from old age. FIRST and important...get the good EZ up. The 79 dollar model is shit. Get the 179. NEXT using 18 inch steel rebar(80 cents each at Home Depot) drive the rebar straight down next to all 4 sides then wrap with duct tape. When you go home simply cut the tape. For heavy winds, use rope to cross the canopy like tic tac toe. Tie them off to the same rebar stakes. Take the factory stakes and recycle them. I have had Coleman lanterns on the ground blow a mile away at Saline but my EZ up is like me..always up at full attention. Satisfactory!
