FYI,
I think a lot of people don't bother to get these, but since they're online now, it's easier than ever and would recommend getting it. I don't know if you can be fined if you don't have one, but it's better to be safe than sorry. The Permit is valid in National Forests, National Parks, State Parks and BLM lands located in California. Follow the Link.
Read, take a short (5 questions) quiz, and print and sign the permit. Done deal! You never know when someone is going to card you (quito?) ha ha :)
