EZ-UP shade structures in high desert winds?

In the recent Saline Pass thread someone mentioned that they had an EZUP destroyed by some strong Saline winds. I always wondered how these shade structures hold up in strong winds. They seem like a lot of extra weight to haul out there just to be destroyed in a blast of wind.
