It's real low key, well...not anymore, and not many rooms.

Everything else in the area was booked. We did find a room at Longstreet Casino and had a reservation.

Amargosa had a little vacancy sign out as we crused through. It was in good light and I was going to photograph it anyway.

I told my wife the sign was likely from another time, and I don't think they actually have rooms. She checked, was right, we got the last room.

Some Swiss people came in next and wife gets to use her German. No room for them but we gave them our reservation at Longstreet.

Best I can tell, five or six rooms of the many there are ready for letting. Seems like that's how many people were there.

Our room was, well, sort of like the back side of the place but clean enough. We got to see the other rooms as by the morning we had all become family and were zooming in and out of each other's places.

Those rooms were much better. Marta had painted on the walls, old west decor working. Get there early or call. Wife has all the numbers, e-mail me, and I'll look them up.

Some young girls seem to be running the place. One said she only had worked there three days.

Funny thing is at eight p.m. they told us they were leaving. They asked us to put a bolt in the front door and turn away anyone who came for a room. They gave us all keys to a side entrance, and left. Home alone!

It was sort of a strange feeling, we were just left there sitting around the fireplace with the whole building to ourselves. "Is this reality," one guy asked.

The Bikers (See the Trike Trekers photo) were cooking on the floor. Their dog and ours were playing. This is when we started making up stories about murder mysteries or reality shows.

We went to Longstreet to gamble, eat, and some brought back pizzas. We're talking found fun.
