Since Alex mentioned Cerro Gordo when I was doing that story on him, the place seems to be calling me. I looked up some photos on the Web. Looks like my kind of place. I didnt take note of where it is. Where exactly is it?
Alex said he hiked to the mine at Cerro Gordo wih Lillian Hilderman, the lady who was Keeler's postmaster and only resident back in the Seventies, when she was 95 years old. She ran him ragged.
Lillian, by the way, might be one of "your sort" of historical ladies for you to research and write about. I only met her the one time as I mentioned in the Apostolides story, in 1974.
