Cell phone coverage

My 5 year old crappy little non camera, non blueberry no name Sanyo phone works fantastic in DV. It worked with Sprint last week everywhere in the park, Badwater,FC,SPW,SVR,PSR, no problems and a great signal. Shango reported that this will end in 2008, did this happen yet? Some Analog requirement? When it dies I will go back to no calls and be all the better.
