The harm is it would be an invatation to treasure hunters to go looking. Though it will take serious treasure hunters to find it. It would perpetuate his legend. There are to many people today that want to keep the legend of Charlie alive. He, his cult, and his legend need to die.
No, the Tate/LaBianca murders were not the reason for his initial arrest. It was an arson charge for torching a front end loader that beloned to the NPS. It proves that stupid little acts get stupid little people put in jail. Once the T/L tie in was established the news media made everything free game. It was even suggested back then that the NPS should annex the Barker ranch. That's the main reason the bus went away along with as much of Charlies stuff as could be carted off. Some people out there at the time did not want anything to do with Charlie affiliated with (at the time) DVNM. The bus and stuff was stealthly done away with. The rest they say is history.
