It's looking more and more like the Xterra will win the derby! None of the other vehicles I've checked out seem to have everything I want, let alone at a good price ($27,740 MSRP for an Xterra the way I want it).
The Explorer's ground clearance is laughable and the 4WD set up isn't that appealing anyway. I also looked at a 4-door Wrangler and wasn't all that impressed. For one thing, getting in the cargo area is a pain with the soft top (didn't get to see a hardtop). And I really prefer a liftgate anyway.
Seems like most SUV's these days are either car-based, AWD as opposed to "real" 4WD, overpriced, or some combination of the above.
Hmm, I haven't really looked at the 4runner lately, guess I should take a look.
