Sometime in the last part of 2005. I ran it in January f 2006, and it was a freeway. To clarify, this fill is at the far west end of Goler, in the narrows. The fill continues for about 1 mile or less up canyon. We ran it, at that time, with a Honda CRV with stout tires, and had no issues.

30 years ago, going up Goler meant dragging the motorcycles up the dry falls - not pretty. Yet Surprise Canyon could be run with a 2WD pickup!

Getting to Geologist's from Goler, you'd still have to deal with Mengal Pass, which is (and has been) the real problem.
