Similar story at the California Aqueduct, midnight, drunk and in college 1980 and no jumper cables to jump start a totally dead battery...in a van that played an 8 track super tuner all day(think it was ELP brain salad surgery) I used a single strand of chain link fence, Pos to Pos, and we touched the front bumpers for a ground. Somehow it worked. When the connection was made and that stereo came on all was well!
