yes, it will start. and once started the alternator will supply the needed power for spark.
big advantage manual over automatic is the "jump start" but don't forget you need to be paked on a hill to be avble to coast a bit before popping the clutch.
if there is another vehicle available then i would just use batter jumper cables to start the dead rig rather that push start. and there again another advantage with manual..........like if you didn't have jumper cables you could still push start :)
